The Gite

An independent gite set in the grounds of the main house, offering ideal accommodation if you are looking for the freedom of a self-catering holiday in the Loir or Loire Valleys.

Accommodation
Comprises a double bedroom, lounge diner, kitchen area, shower room with w.c., has access to its own sun terrace and use of the swimming pool during the summer season. This gite is suitable for a couple or a family with one or two small children.

A non-smoking policy operates inside the gite.

Table d'hotes is also available for guests staying in the gite.

Gite - charges per week 2008

*Peak season runs from the first full week in May to the last full week in September, it also includes the Easter, Christmas and New Year holiday weeks.

Electricity - As with a majority of gite's in France a charge will be made for electricity. For the 2008 season we have set it at €25 per week.

Villandry

A holiday in the Loire Valley is always an intense but relaxing experience. The valley has been the playground of French nobility for hundreds of years and its history is recorded in the many chateaux, castles and picturesque towns lining its river banks.

Wine production has taken place here for hundreds of years and is still a major attraction to the thousands of tourists who visit the region.

At La Picardiere we offer the chance to experience the Loire and Loir Valleys without the worries of having to drive yourself. With you we can plan and arrange a programme of activities, acting then as your courier to ensure that your break with us is an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Suggestions for your four night break include

  • A day out to visit any one of the Loire Valleys famous Chateaux
  • Wine tasting
  • Son et lumiere
  • Morning trip to the traditional French market at La Fleche
  • City trip to Le Mans, Tours or Angers
  • Visit a place of interest including Angers and the Tapestry of the Apocalypse, Amboise a medieval town and the last home of Leonardo da Vinci, Le Mans racing museum, the house of magic at Blois, La Fleche Zoo to name but a few.
  • Sporting activities – Walking in the forest of Berce, Horse riding, canoeing, sailing and swimming.
Your stay with us will cost €320 per person (approximately £225), this price is based on a group of four people sharing two twin rooms. It will include four nights bed & breakfast, evening meals, outings, transfers and entrance fee to a Chateau, it will not include travel to and from France.

Menus and any special dietary requirements will be arranged directly with you.

We can also arrange your ‘special occasion’. Birthdays, family celebrations, wedding anniversaries, Christmas and the New Year can all be catered for at La Picardiere. We can accommodate up to four couples and two children and could be an ideal venue for your celebration.

Travel can be arranged via either Eurostar or Ryanair. The approximate cost for Eurostar is between £80 - £100 return, flights with Ryanair can be cheaper depending on travel dates.
